Overview

Overview
The Percussions Claviers de Lyon ensemble has made a name for itself through its collaborations with numerous artists and through multidisciplinary productions aimed at a broad audience. On stage, it is a unique quintet whose musical expression is enriched by interaction with others and through an original combination of instruments: an entire family of “percussion keyboards,” of which the xylophone is merely the best known. The immense range of sounds produced by this ensemble of instruments, the quintet’s musical artistry, and its stage presence always spark great curiosity, regardless of the context.
The ensemble explores a wide variety of forms and aesthetics. Over the course of four decades of experience, the quintet has varied its ingredients while refining the character of its musical offerings.
Their reinterpretation of the classical repertoire and collaborations with living composers have shaped a distinctive sonic identity. There is a touching empathy, a seamless fusion, and a broad spectrum of timbres that give the ensemble its orchestral dimension.
Putting these strengths to work in the service of a unique artistic vision, exploring the most fruitful areas of convergence, and creating surprising artistic forms each time—this is the wild, yet so sweet-sounding, inclination of this percussion quintet.

The members of Percussions Claviers de Lyon
Gilles Dumoulin
Gilles Dumoulin began playing in bands with eclectic influences as early as his teenage years, while pursuing a classical education at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Clermont-Ferrand and later at the CNSMD in Lyon. He joined the ensemble in 2002, began coordinating its cultural initiatives in 2008, and in 2022 took over as the ensemble’s artistic director, with the goal of offering audiences the experience of unexpected connections.
His projects bring different aesthetics into dialogue, combine contemporary and traditional artistic languages, and create compelling and inspired artistic forms: Bertrand Belin & the Percussions Claviers de Lyon (2020), Aber-DÎn (2022), Printemps (2023), Concert:Zèbre (2025), Les Yeux clos (2025), Carmen, oiseaux rebelles (2026)…
Adapting the repertoire provides him with a playground to explore (H. Berlioz, N. Rota, A. Scriabin…), as does collaborating with composers such as M. Eggert, Z. Moultaka, G. Bryars, and M. Moulin…
As the ensemble’s spokesperson, he regularly conducts master classes on ensemble music, both in France and internationally (New York University, McGill University, Conservatorio Superior de las Islas Baleares…). In 2023, he spearheaded the founding of the HEP! school.

Sylvie Aubelle
Sylvie Aubelle is drawn to theater, song, and popular music—in fact, she played the accordion before studying percussion at the CRRs in Amiens and Créteil, and later at the CNSMD in Lyon. A member of the ensemble since 2003, she began working in 2014 to develop and carry out the quintet’s cultural initiatives. These projects involve schools and, more recently, audiences with special needs (such as the Hospices Civils de Lyon, nursing homes, and Sésame Autisme). She combines her presence on stage with a more proactive role in reaching out to those who are most distant from cultural venues. She invites everyone to discover and participate in an inclusive experience through sound and emotion.

Jérémy Daillet
After studying drums and percussion, Jérémy Daillet went on to study percussion at the CRR in Tours and then at the CNSMD in Lyon. In 2009, he and Quentin Dubois won the 9th Luxembourg International Percussion Competition as a duo. With the same partner, he created his first show for young audiences, *Replay*.
In 2011, he joined the ensemble and created a show for very young children (2018), followed by the musical *Le Ballon Rouge* (2020). At the same time, he has created musical transcriptions of works by Borodin, Milhaud, Mussorgsky, Ravel, Stravinsky, Vivaldi, and others. Together with Renaud Cholewa, he has been leading the ensemble music workshop since 2024.
He is regularly invited to perform with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, La Cigale in Lyon, Cassiopée, and the Lyon Opera Choir, and participates in touring productions of musicals by Jean Lacornerie and Gérard Lecointe: *Woman of the Year* (2023) and *Dear World* (2026).

Renaud Cholewa
Renaud Cholewa joined the ensemble in February 2018 after completing his musical and pedagogical training at the CRRs in Lille, Tours, and Lyon, as well as at the Haute École de Musique de Genève. He also creates musical arrangements (for Danny Elfman and Ólafur Arnalds), leads outreach workshops, co-teaches an ensemble music workshop with Jérémy Daillet, and contributes to the development of the HEP! school.
He is constantly exploring new artistic horizons, notably through his involvement in performances for young audiences (Cie Un Scarabée dans la poche). At the same time, he has made a name for himself in musical theater with the offbeat collective Les Marteaux s’entêtent and in the free jazz scene with the group Tangram.

Victor Lodeon
Victor Lodéon studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Valence, the CRR de Lyon, and the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in performance and, concurrently, a bachelor’s degree in musicology. He then continued his studies at the CNSMD de Lyon, where he earned a master’s degree, followed by an Artist Diploma.
With a particular affinity for chamber music, Victor is a co-founder of the Budd Trio, the Anomalie Quartet, and LYNE, ensembles with which he has won several awards.
A versatile performer, he appears regularly at the Théâtre Mogador in Paris as well as with various ensembles and orchestras, exploring a wide range of musical styles. He is currently touring Europe with Germaine Kruip’s production *A Possibility *.

The HEP! Speakers

Sorie Bangura
Sorie studied percussion at the Conservatory of Sablé-sur-Sarthe and then at the CRR in Nantes. In 2018, he won first prize at the J. Pakalnis International Percussion Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania, and graduated from the CNSMD in Lyon in 2022. He then performed occasionally with the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Opéra de Lyon, before broadening his artistic horizons by participating in various projects combining improvisation, composition, dance, theater, and directing.
In 2026, he composed the music for *Afropéennes, une histoire de famille* by Léa Sery and founded his jazz-fusion group, Bangsana. He performed as a percussionist and pianist on singer Bertrand Belin’s tours (albums *Watt* and *Tambour Vision*).
He has been teaching percussion classes at the HEP school since the start of the 2024 school year, developing a teaching approach that balances written notation and oral tradition, with an emphasis on jazz, contemporary music, world music, and classical music.

Ghislaine Porte
Ghislaine Porte has been working as a musician in schools for over 25 years, primarily in Décines (69), and currently through the Lyon Regional Conservatory of Music (CRR). This extensive experience has enabled her to lead numerous projects with local cultural organizations, as well as with arts companies, partners, and diverse audiences. In 2016–2017, she resumed her studies and earned a master’s degree in International Arts Project Development (DPACI).
She completed her internship in Tunisia at the Institut Supérieur de Musique de Tunis and with the Iqadh association, which works to promote music in Tunisian schools. She continues to support this association today as an educational mentor.
In her workshops on music education and musical awareness, Ghislaine explores the infinite creative richness of soundscapes. She draws on each participant’s curiosity and inventiveness, as well as her own constant interest in sound—the common thread running through her particularly rich and varied career.
