The Devil & Demons
Music for a Sabbath Night
What a scandalous, mischievous, and invigorating theme! A whole ensemble of percussion instruments comes together, whose clashes and mischievous sounds embody the devil. In an imaginary yet very resonant clearing, this diabolus (in musica) personally invites the famous Queen of the Sabbath, accompanied by a hopping crowd of monsters, witches, puppets, and skeletons… At the appointed hour, the drumsticks perform several dances of death, bearing witness to humanity’s eternal fascination with death. To the delight of a very much alive audience, composer Zad Moultaka plays along and invents a thoroughly contemporary vision of hell.
