The Percussions Claviers de Lyon create a musical portrait of a composer who has explored the family of tuned percussion in his works with subtlety and precision.

“In my work, tuned percussion is an important family of instruments; they are capable of playing as expressively as the string family. As early as the ‘70s I began to write a certain number of pieces that included tuned percussion; this was in part due to my admiration for the imaginative, audacious use of these percussion instruments in compositions by Percy Grainger" Gavin Bryars

The association of Claude Debussy’s Nocturnes with the music of Gavin Bryars is not fortuitous. Resonance, dissonance and consonance have an important role to play in the music of Debussy as well as in Bryars’ contemporary compositions, with the long, limpid textures of his harmonic and melodic structures…
